So Snydy,The Beast, and the Beast's brother and I took in a show last night. We saw Bob Wier's Ratdog with the Allman Brothers. We were expecting a shortened Ratdog set with the Allmans coming in to close it out with a full set. What we got was much longer and much more special. Snydy arrived at my house early(I know, I Know) and we waited for the the beast. He arrived and we were on our way. We made it down to the E center and found our smart spot in the lot. We got something to eat before we went up to our lawn seats. On a funny note there were people getting robbed at the concession stands. Usual concert fare though. We found an excellent spot on the lawn. We were all surprised to see grass vs. the usual dirt. Ratdog took the stage playing a nice mix of dead/ratdog/ and covers. Right about this time the wind was picking up. They played for about an hour and the wind was just wiping around. The clouds were dark and ominous, A storm was brewing. Then we saw lighting strikes around us. No rain, Yet. The crowd was loving it though(myself included). Ratdog must have like a rain mix. Songs they know will pump the crowd up. There was an electricity in the air. Both ,literately and figuratively. The sky just opened up and it poured. The clouds were so dense you couldn't see the Ben Franklin bridge. The Bridge is lit up like a Christmas tree and it was a blank spot in the distance. The music played, The sky was lit up, The rain poured, and the crowd went wild. It stopped raining after a bit. Ratdog just played away the whole time.Ratdog finished their set with the encore, Ripple....very good indeed.
Next to the stage was The Allman Brothers Band. I haven't seen them in years. I lost interest once they lost the Dickey bets/Warren Haynes guitar combo. They now have Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes. They were good enough that I'd see them again. Just so long as The mule or certain other bands don't open. The Allmans played maybe one song that was under ten minutes and two that were under twenty. They were good. There was still that charge in the air from the storm. The crowd just kinda ran with it. It made for a nice show. They played a full set, Ratdog played a full set. So it was late by the time we got out of there. We had planned on grabbing a meal after. It was just too dam late. While I would have done it I was spent. I fell asleep two seconds after my head hit the pillow.Good Times.-C

Dam, So your trying to compete with my review of the Crossroads Festival huh?
Not bad. The live recording sounds nice & am importing it into itunes as we speak.
A meal would have been nice but there was some cold mac & cheese waiting for me when I got home. it hit the spot.
Byt he way, Warren kicks ass & would love to see a nice Mule/ABB show.
